Handblown glass planet by Robert DuGrenier on a chandelier at the Southern Vermont Art Center Museum collection. Purchasers will be able to control the LED lights on the chandelier, you will also be able to make your own glass planet at my studio. Universe meets the metaverse.

Robert DuGrenier’s new chandelier installation and accompanying exhibition, VitroVerse, will open on Friday, July 22, 2022, at the Southern Vermont Arts Center in Manchester, Vermont. Two hundred hand-blown glass planets, each illuminated by an LED light, will hang from the ceiling of the grand staircase in Yester House. Each planet will have a digital life as an NFT (non-fungible token), a unique digital asset that represents a work of art or collectible and purchasers of NFTs can control the color LED light for their corresponding planet. A companion exhibition of the 200 NFTs as well as larger hand-blown glass planets will be on view in Gallery 1.

“I’ve been fascinated by the sun, moon and stars in the universe since I was little,” says DuGrenier. “I had a telescope in my room and would spend hours looking out the window at the night sky. My NFT VitroVerse collection is a joining of two worlds: the universe and the metaverse”.
