Loosely based off of Japanese Miko-san (Shinto shrine maidens), these holy girls are called "handmaidens of the gods." They wear no makeup and perform shrine duties meekly and faithfully. I was interested in their type of silent beauty, which flies in the face of Western standards of glamor.
