This Pieter Mijer edition of Portrait of Heroes is inspired by master painted portraits. They demonstrate how classical art was often a means for wealthy individuals to portray their alter-ego. The piece playfully suggests that the classical portraits were the Photoshop and Instagram filters of their time. Today we all have the ability to record our lives through the lens of social media. But, how much of what we share is real and how much are we trying to heroize our reality?
