Saptami or the seventh day of Navratri is of Goddess Kaalratri. As per legends she sacrificed her skin colour and embraced a dark complexion to kill demons. She is a four-armed deity who rides a donkey, carries a sword, a trident, and a noose. She has a third eye on her forehead that is believed to contain the entire universe. Having a dark complexion and a fearless posture, Kaalratri is celebrated on the seventh day of Navratri. The blue colour symbolises immense power and divine energy.
Navratri - 9 nights, symbolizes the victory of good over evil as Goddess Durga fought battle with the demon king 'Mahishasura' and ultimately killed him. As Navratri marks the advent of Goddess Durga on Earth, devotees worship and offer prayers along with special food to the nine avatars of Goddess Durga. Among several rituals, each day of the Navratri festival has a dedicated colour and significance attached to it.
It is believed that wearing these colours on the specific days of the Navratri will please Goddess Durga, which is considered auspicious.
