There is the startling and explosive mystery in this nocturne of a stylised Tree of Life where nothing else is seen through a wide open garden doorway.
The Coin Moon series are idealisations inspired while sitting out on a rooftop garden in Tangier, Morocco. The clarity of the sky associated with the almost overwhelming architectural and ornamental detail of the Maghreb were seen under an evening glimpse of the waxing moon. I used a half Dirham coin from my pocket to trace the moon on a sketch, and so this series began and was titled.
