Lost in Genesis #8 "Blindna"

A lot of these final images embrace the power of sisterhood and the acceptance of change. As the sun grew high, I knew that shooting in harsh light wouldn’t be ideal; however, shooting on film in harsh light is very different. I first shot two of the models together while one was taking a short break. I loved the pose so much that I wanted them all to group together, very close as if they were hugging and I snapped the shot. It was very difficult to have these women maneuver around that close with the angel wings, and I can't lie that there were moments where I wanted to take the wings off and just photoshop them in, but it wouldn’t have looked or even felt the same if we did that.
“Lost in Genesis” is a project focused on gender and the sexual fluidity of celestials. Because in the beginning, before anything else manmade, there was love in its truest, most honest form. The goal of Lost in Genesis is to highlight not just angels of any colour, but to capture the essence of the love that has always included celestial queerness. This project shows that humans of all backgrounds are accepted into the divine. This is a collection totaling 30 images that I have taken over the course of the year, with a special emphasis on people of color, as research has shown a general exclusion of angels of color. This is the first installment of 30 total images.

All photos were taken on Fuji Pro400H using both my Pentax 6x7 and Mamiya RB67.
