Landscape photography has a lot of variables, and when you're trying to time seasonal elements, like the summer wildflower blooms it takes a little luck and persistence to get the shot you're looking for, especially in the mountains. Although it took me three trips, I was lucky enough to finally get some pretty nice conditions a the peak of the Flame Azalea bloom at Roan Mountain in Tennessee. But it didn't last. I started the hike back shortly after this. It was dark by the time I has heading down the trail and out of nowhere the fog rolled in faster than I've ever experienced. I was suddenly completely socked in, and couldn't see 3 feet in front of me. My headlamp didn't do much good but eventually I found my way back to the truck and drove home. It's crazy how fast conditions can change and it was the most challenging mile or two that i've done in a while, but I got the shot!

Part of my mission as a photographer is to capture and collect rare experiences. I've traveled the world, climbed mountains and have spent hours, days and sometimes weeks searching for beautiful scenes. Along that journey, there have been handful of times that go beyond being a simply beautiful photograph, and stand out as extraordinary moments of my story. This is a collection of my favorite memories, the moments when the universe aligned perfectly and I was fortunate enough to be standing in the right place at the right time with my camera in hand to capture it.
