Over a century ago, an ivory figurine was found in a cave at Brassempouy, France. Though known as Dame À La Capuche (Lady with the Hood) it is believed to not necessarily be a woman. It caused considerable excitement because it is said to be 25,000 years old, one of the earliest depictions of the human face. In recreating the sculpture with this image, i hoped to reflect how identity transcends time and place.
