Many people don't realize it, but snow is actually very polarizing.

If you grew up with snow, during the Winter, it consumed your life. It was on your roof, outside your windows, beneath your feet, in the air, and in your lungs. Picking up mud and dirt and exhaust made the snow ugly and unbearable.

If you are like me, and spent your early years where the weather was warmer, snow was mystical, magical, and ethereal. When my friends with means were traveling far North on weekends to hit the slopes, I was at home with my parents, both teachers, reading books and dreaming of the wonderful adventures they were having. When I did occasionally have the privilege, snow was powerful, majestic, and awe-inspiring. Imposing mountaintops blanketed with the most delicate powder made me feel small, but safe, and alive.

Snow still has this allure for me. Pure, undisturbed, gorgeous, playful snow. Sometimes I wish it went on forever.
