Merkle the Mother Tree is the elemental spirit of Wondermist and is held in high regard by almost everyone. Her abilities to create plant life include rebirth from decay (such as with mushrooms), propagation, and sprouting seeds. She developed a special magic to create the Woodies in order to save the trees chopped down by The Logger. She resides in the fungal and root network that links the forests together underground and she also uses these networks to communicate with the trees through their roots.
