Diem ($DIEM) is an ERC-20 token on Base designed to represent tokenized AI compute, not money. It is completely unrelated to Meta/Facebook’s discontinued Diem/Libra project and instead lives squarely in the onchain AI infrastructure space. DIEM functions as a programmable unit of access to private AI inference rather than a medium of exchange.

DIEM is minted through a mechanism tied to Venice AI, where eligible participants lock protocol-specific assets to produce tokens that correspond to perpetual AI inference capacity. The key idea is predictability: DIEM abstracts away usage-based billing and turns compute access into a durable onchain asset that can be held, transferred, or integrated into smart contracts.

By making AI compute composable, DIEM enables developers, agents, and DAOs to design systems that assume guaranteed access to inference without relying on centralized APIs or variable pricing models. This positions DIEM as infrastructure for autonomous software and onchain agents that need reliable AI resources to function long-term.
