A diverse group of creators from various genres, based in Hiroshima, came together to form the art collective “F.C.T.R.” Until now, we have created a digital art series titled “EN,” inspired by the teachings of Zen. However, in this new collection, we step away from the frameworks of “EN” and “ZEN,” and move toward a new form of expression — “a being with expression.”

Expression has the power to convey emotions and individuality intuitively, transcending words, cultures, and eras. "A being with expression" creates a connection with the viewer. It is neither a circle nor a Zen phrase, but a more raw and freer form of expression.

These three shapes are said to represent states of mind and the process of reaching enlightenment. “■” symbolizes the mind trapped by attachments. “▲” represents the posture of zazen — the act of training to break free. And “●” embodies a state of enlightenment: uninterrupted, free, and complete. At first glance, “a being with expression” may seem like nothing more than a stack of simple shapes. But beneath that simplicity, the spirit of Zen quietly resides. Depending on the viewer’s state of mind, it can take on any form. Not enlightenment, not delusion — just presence. And that presence is the very “expression” we aim to create.…

"A being with expression" always holds two faces. “Good and evil,” “light and shadow,” “stillness and motion,” “reason and instinct,” “life and death” Opposing forces coexist within a single being. If only one side exists, the contours blur, and the being becomes ambiguous. It is through conflict that edges are formed, and expression emerges.
"A being with expression" is that very duality. Neither side is false—both are true. In that fluctuation, the essence of humanity seeps through.

Creators from various genres working in Hiroshima, Japan, came together to form the fundoshi creative group "Tomorrow Squad." We worked as fundoshi performers, using dance and group gymnastics as our weapons.
We released "FUJI" as "the most beautiful triangle in the world."
After searching for a new place to work, we resumed our activities as the art and creative group "F.C.T.R."
We released "EN" as "The most beautiful circle in the world."
2024 Selected for the "TRADITION for TOMORROW 2024-2025" competition, organized by the Kyoto Museum of Crafts and Design, which aims to connect Japan's traditional culture and industries to the future. F.C.T.R's "KAZARU Technology" was chosen as an award-winning work.
2025 Exhibited at the "KYOTO CRAFTS and DESIGN COMPETITION" hosted by the same museum.
