##Work Title: Still_Waiting_06 (Samurai) The work features contemporary, abstract photographic details pervaded by the figure of one of the last Japanese samurai. Illustrated with India ink glazes, the man-at-arms looks proudly ahead, almost as if to challenge the fate that would see the demise of the samurai class shortly afterwards, during the Meiji period.

In the composition, you can feel the power of material and colour; at the same time, however, you are gripped by a feeling of introspection that suggests the suspension of time and favours a vision of "melancholic beauty".

##YOKOHAMA Collection The subjects represented in this collection are inspired by photographs from the Yokohama school, founded in Japan in the second half of the 19th century. Each work in the collection features contemporary photographic details pervaded by scenes of Japanese life from over a century ago. This encounter between contemporary photography and faces and bodies from the Meiji era (1868–1912) gives rise to a suspension of time that becomes an indelible mark on each Still Waiting creation.

The India ink figures, presenting the main body in focus and some blurred outlines, recall the "three-dimensional" language of the material (which often seems to emerge, almost to the point of bursting out, from the photographic details). In addition, each work has the Still Waiting logo (hand-drawn and created specifically for the brand) which becomes the signature of the two artists.

The Still Waiting project, characterised by works embodying the "wabi-sabi" philosophy, arose from the encounter between director Alessandro Garilli and graphic designer Roberto Solieri.

Still Waiting's works are the result of historical as well as aesthetic research and arise from the interpenetration of abstract photography and figurative painting. In them, you can feel the power of material and colour; at the same time, however, you are gripped by a feeling of introspection that favours a vision of "melancholic beauty”.
