The Black August collection is dedicated to TheTagan's mother, Ladonya Sherea. She has been a practicing attorney in metropolitan Atlanta for the past 25 years. In 2003, she went into private practice as a sole practitioner representing clients in criminal defense, family law and general civil matters. Currently, she continues to represent the Division of Child Support Services and other clients in various family law matters.
Ladonya's children, Monte and TheTagan are both interdisciplinary artists. Together, the duo are launching the Ladon Project in honor of their mother. This project's 1st goal is to establish a NFT Fund to support mental health resources for mothers impacted by the family justice system.
The siblings are kicking the project off by donating 9 NFTs to the collection. These NFTs feature an image of Ladonya and her mother Shirley A. with pieces of a poem written by TheTagan for her mother. The poem is distributed in 3 parts to create 3 unique NFTs designs. Each design has 3 copies.
Black August is "Black History Month" for revolutionaries. This collection features revolutionary stories inspired by the ancestors, the living and the unborn. Each NFT represents the spark that ignites an idea.
Black August is a month to commemorate the freedom and resistance we express every day. To honor that, this collection calls for 1.) the immediate release of all (political) prisoners 2.) the immediate end to all forms of genocide 3.) you to liberate your self.
The spirit of this collection begins with giving to inspire a movement for love. It was created to give away 24 NFTs during TheTagan's Birthday Festival-- the first ever NFT birthday. The NFTs in this collection are "vegan desserts"-- decadent treats for the intelligent heart or humanitarian art. Each August, we will celebrate in this way: freedom, resistance, giving, love and vegan desserts.
