The eighth in a series of photo editions minted in 2023. I mentioned in SB23 #2 that as a street photographer relocating from Tokyo to Vancouver has been a challenging change of both pace and scenery. Like anything this could be good or bad depending on perspective of the moment, but it's forced me to think about and look at things a little differently as well as given me (perhaps forced) the opportunity to find other ways to be creative. But I still carry a camera with me every day, just in case something presents itself. Living in Japan I got used to seeing Torii gates everywhere, a reminder that something special and magical is always nearby if you are open to it. I've missed that reminder here in Canada, and was delighted to recently find the remains of an old fishing dock that could easily double for a row of Torii. I didn't cross through them, so I can't confirm what the other side offered, but I was happy to be reminded the option was there.
