Hey, I am San Holo, an artist, producer, DJ, and songwriter from The Netherlands and currently living in LA! I started making music when I was 13 years old and played in different bands throughout high school with my best friends. I grew up loving punk and alt-rock music which inspired me to learn how to play the guitar. I studied guitar at Rotterdam’s Codarts University of the Arts which is also where I also started to develop a love for beat making and music production.

I started producing electronic music and making remixes of songs like Dr. Dre’s “The Next Episode” which exploded on Soundcloud and YouTube. I released one of my first original San Holo tracks “We Rise” in 2015 and “Light” in 2017 along with many other songs that I still play in my shows to this day. I’ve had the opportunity to tour around the world and perform at incredible venues and festivals since then. In 2018, I released my debut album titled album1 on my record label, bitbird. I spent months at an Airbnb in Los Angeles producing the music, writing the lyrics and singing on many of the tracks myself, alongside great friends and collaborators such as The Nicholas, Thorwald, Bipolar Sunshine and more. I found myself back in the same part of town (Echo Park) years later while I was recording my second album, bb u ok?.

One day when I got back home after a long tour, I felt inspired and I spontaneously made a little beat on my phone while laying in bed. I found this phone beat on my computer recently, I almost forgot that I made it! I really like the raw nature of this beat, it’s very unpolished and definitely not perfect... But somehow a very strong emotion shines through all the imperfections. About 95% of what you hear on this track was recorded and produced on my iPhone, including the vocals!
