This piece represents the duality that is internally present while I am in the midst of a crippling panic attack. In that dark abyss, I am consumed with an otherworldly level of emotional and spiritual pain, a pain so severe that it feels absolutely unbearable at times. In these intense moments, which feel like eternities, my distorted mind often turns to suicidal ideation, wrongly believing that the only logical solution to escape the unbearable anguish scraping against my soul is to cease breathing. Thankfully, there is a gentle, yet powerful part of me that is always anchored in the light, whispering and urging me to remember the temporary nature of the pain, no matter how all-consuming it feels. She reminds me that there is an equal, otherworldly level of beauty and joy waiting for me on the other side of the sorrow. She holds me and lifts me out of the darkness every time, even when the anguish appears too heavy a burden to lift. She is Hope, rising from the Abyss.
