This is an animation of a photograph taken by Peter Ruprecht of the EGO installation at Burning Man in 2011 by Laura Kimpton. EGO is the 4th word in Laura Kimpton’s monumental words series. EGO was 30’x60’ made out of over 4000 plaster of paris molds of trophies and religious figures.

One Saturday night of Burning man Laura and her crew burned down the EGO in a magnificent fire spectacle. Laura’s meaning behind The Burning of the EGO is to remind people that humans are not number one on Earth.

Peter Ruprecht and Laura Kmpton have been collaborating as artist and photographer for many years and this is another incredible example of work together.

Born in Buenos Aires in 1976 as a descendent of Argentina’s president Manuel Quintana, Peter had a taste for worldly culture at a young age. Peter’s cultural depth, exotic travels and rich personal and professional character have contributed to his eye for seeking the spirit of the moment. In 2001 Peter took an extended two-month journey to India where he took some of the first photographs that would later seed his artistic career. Self taught and recipient of the prestigious Angkor photography award, Peter captures the natural spirit of people and places all across the world. Like many of his subjects, he himself is nomadic, a wandered amidst the greatness of the world. Through his distinctly honest and deliberate approach, Peter intensifies the relationships between the viewer and subject, achieving immediate emotional and spiritual presence, inviting the viewer to consider the ideas and feelings of the subject, and the eternal soul within all of us.

Peter’s first two NFTs have been massively successful. His first release sold on Opensea for 56 ETH, his second release auctioned by Sothebys sold for $107,100.
