There's nothing like waking up in Cheyenne early in the morning. It's freezing cold out here. I can see the breath of my horse lingering around us. Once outside, my morning ritual is to light up a Quirley and smoke one down before I head out for a days work. Tonight I have to get some more protein for me, my lady and the boys. Two growing boys can be Fair to Middlin.' This time of year, they like to eat some bison, then skin him and use the fur before the winter. I seen a red-tailed hawk last night. I guess that's good luck for this ol' man.

Luckily around this time, we don't see no widow spiders all in the cabin. When it's hot, the darn things just love lingering around the corners of the place. My eldest boy saw a Lynx that must of crossed over from Canada. Rare sighting if you ask me. I told him if you see a Grizzly don't be scared to shoot iron in the air for me. Well, anyway... I was whistlin' dixie after my lady poured a bath and wanted to have some fun. Must be doing something right for a change around here. I'm sure she was happy when I got her a little desert cottontail to keep her company. She always hated when I used too much Thunderation around the boys. I'll try to be a better daddy for my boys. Family is all this Cowboy got left. Papa died too long ago, so we all we got. Ya hear! Here I go again Wobblin' Jaw. It's time to head out.
