Removing the Demon from the Rock Oil on Linen 84in (213cm) x 79in (201cm) 2018
The origin of the title comes from a Luca Signorelli fresco, titled The Life of St. Benedict, Scene 23: Benedict Drives the Devil Out of a Stone. The image of the devil is faded, and so it becomes abstracted by nature, by time, and environment. I became fascinated by this segment of the fresco and have used its visual elements to inform how I engage a figurative presence in several of my paintings. This painting is currently on view at the South Bend Museum of Art in South Bend, Indiana until May September 2021.
Artist | Painter living in the US. I create digital images to use as references for large scale paintings and I am making these digital images available as NFTs. I was included in the international survey of painting: Chaos and Awe: Painting for the 21st Century, which opened at the Frist Art Museum and traveled to the Chrysler Museum of Art. I am a recipient of the Joan Mitchell Painters and Sculptors Award. I've been included in New American Paintings. My paintings have been written about in The Wall Street Journal, Burnaway, Nashville Arts, the Nashville Scene, Native Magazine, Nfocus Magazine, The Tennessean, Art Daily, and others.
