The subject of this photo is the subversion of expectations. Where one would expect to see water, the pool is empty--shallowly covered in mud and snow. WENDOVER is full of subverted expectations. Water in the desert, but not in the pool. Quiet, salt flats with fast, colorful cars, and so on.

"Where the West Begins!"
WENDOVER is Oliver Dahl's second published photographic exploration of a small town, a sequel to the series debut, ARCO. The book (and accompanying NFT collection) features a combination of digital and analog photography, paired with stories and history from this town in the Great Salt Lake Desert. From gambling and speed racing to scuba diving and bombing ranges, Wendover is much more than just a sleepy city by the salt flats.
This photo series is the result of 5 different dedicated trips throughout the last year in each of the four seasons. It explores the effects of connection and separation that result from borders and distance, while crafting an honest, raw, and liminal depiction of the gambling town "oasis" of Wendover.
Initial collectors will be sent signed copies of the physical book upon release.
