CODY CHOI : Database Painting collection image

As a pioneer of database painting, a genre that he initiated in 1997, Cody Choi completed the first Database Painting file in 1999 and showed at the 2nd Seoul International Media Art Biennale (2002), where a symposium was held and he was invited with Jean Baudrillard as lecturer. The Database Paintings were featured at exhibitions such as New York University Faculty Exhibition, Ludwig Forum in 2000 and PKM Gallery. Over the next 20 years, he exhibited Database Paintings at the Kunsthalle Düsseldorf, MAC(France), Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz, Museum of Contemporary Art Taipei, the 6th Busan Biennale, the 6th Shanghai Biennale, MOCA,(Los Angeles), SEMA and many others. World-renowned art critics such as John Welchman, Laurence A. Rickle and Gregor Jensen wrote about Choi’s Database Painting, and related art professionals such as Robert Rosenblum (former Senior Curator at Guggenheim), Peter Halley, Mike Kelley and MOCA, SEMA, GMOMA to include Choi’s Database Painting in the collections.
