I remember my father throwing out my original Snoop Dogg tape... I don't remember why but I do remember it was a huge loss until I was able to buy the CD again later on. Something about that first tape was special. It was a soundtrack more than just a CD... it gave me a view into what it was like in LA at the time. I remember seeing the music video with his face morphing into a dog. It was like Snoop was always born to be a star. He and Dr. Dre together are like bread and butter.
When Snoop started rapping with 2 Pac in the Murder was the Case era was wild. The culture was so powerful at that time. It seemed like the real world and entertainment were dangerously mixing. As we saw when 2 Pac and Biggie got murdered that the streets started to bleed into the music. When snoop was at the source and asked the New York crowd if they don't have a love for him and Death Row... that was a powerful moment as you can see how trill Snoop has always been.
Watching him turn into America's icon has been a treat for me. He now partners with Martha Stewart and all types of large corporate brands... it shows just how far we have come in this country around race, cannabis, Hip Hop, business. I think we are just getting started and I'm thankful for all the work Snoop has done over the years to make Hip Hop more acceptable and mainstream.

For those of y'all who have been following my journey as an artist. This is my story continued.
Many people do not know I was adopted (By my father) when I was 5 years old. Because of this, I have so much respect for the people who step up to be stepfathers and stepmothers. Growing up not knowing my biological father left me wondering about my family history and my lineage. Asking the questions, "Who am I? Where did I come from? Where am I going? What do I want to do with my life?"
With the perspective of being mixed race, looking for mentors or guidance from one source didn't make sense. On top of my racial mixtures, I am also interested in a multitude of subjects & disciplines. From fashion, music, arts, sports, community, writing, content, business... the list is long.
I always looked for people from whom I could find guidance. Over the years I learned and stood on the shoulders of those that came before me.
These are people who, for one reason or another, I respect and admire.
