The image was produced by exposing a 120mm medium format film through a pinhole camera. As the artist winds the film to the next frame, an unforeseen error occurred resulting in the film to begin folding layer by layer in the enclosed camera without the artist noticing it happening. Despite this unintentional error, the artist proceeded to scan the film with hopes there is still something captured on the film. To his delight, the results obtained displayed abstract details and shapes; with each frame possessing it's own unique interaction of light and shadow play.

A series of apparatus malfunctions constructed these “accidental” photographs, evoking a sense of fragility and vulnerability, through the physicality of the objects themselves and the volatile process in which they were made.

Using *pinhole photography as a catalyst to “see” beyond our belief systems, the creation of each work conveys the complex vagaries of humanity, with every frame an invitation to find connections between the shadows and light to our own life.

The works serve as a testament to the unpredictable and mutable nature of time and chaos – guiding one to ponder on the misshapen artefacts as an enquiry into the metaphysical structures of our evolving facets of identity.
