Pixel art, though not yet considered an art at the time, was a way for developers to create images using limited graphics and computing resources. Graphics cards were not yet able to render more than a few pixels, so programmers had to work with each pixel and ensure that the overall image made sense. This was meticulous and difficult work because of the aforementioned restrictions, but as technology progressed, this technique became obsolete. However, because of both nostalgia and the uniqueness of the visual style, this method of creating images has carried on as a digital art style. Many modern games still use pixel art as the main visual theme, but they are no longer limited to the number of pixels that can be rendered by a graphics card and displayed on the screen. Pixel art is not limited to games and is widely popular in the digital art community.

Pixel Alien Apes is a non fungible token collection living on the Ethereum blockchain. The project was launched in august 2021 by Buccilini, with the help of a friend, Armando, who is a self-taught architect from Mexico using predominantly python software using coding skills. There is a total of 1500 algorithmically generated 2D 72 X 72 pixel alien apes with 47 different unique traits. The individual pieces in this collection are inspired by all the programmers and artists that have worked on creating modern games in the space and have a love for pixel art.

Exploring the concepts of unique visual style, where individual pixels created using raster graphics software serve as the building blocks that make up the image. The effect is a visual style very similar to that of mosaic art, cross-stitch and other types of embroidery techniques.

Every Alien Ape is 1 of 1 and exists as both partial and full ownership of complete artwork. The project was manifested in august 2021 by Buccilini, with the help of Armando, a self taught architect from Mexico using coding skills with python. There is a total of 1.500 algorithmically generated 2D 72 X 72 pixel alien apes with 47 different unique traits. Multiple Pieces will be created and released everyday until the 1.500 Alien apes are all living on the blockchain. No roadmap or utility. The individual pieces in this collection are inspired by all programmers and artists that have worked on creating modern games in the space and have a love for pixel art. 100 pieces scheduled for release each drop.
