Brigham Young was the second president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, more commonly known as the Mormon Church. He was a religious and political leader who, among many other achievements during his life, founded Salt Lake City and was the first Governor of Utah. Despite his austere appearance, we imagine him to have been a colourful character. The original photograph from our archive, on which this photo-art is based, was probably taken in the 1870s.
