About the author

GM, I’m Phil Garcia, a French professional photographer living in the Westfjords of Iceland, the most remote region of the country. My images have been awarded in international photography competitions and displayed in the major European nature photography festivals. I also published 12 technical books about photography and 3 Fineart books about Iceland that have been sold over Europe.

I am also a guide for other photographers or videographers who want to meet wildlife in Iceland. In the last years, I took part in the making of several documentaries and commercials, as a location manager, photographer or videographer. For example, last winter I filmed for one of the latest projects from the BBC (to be broadcasted next year).

My biggest source of inspiration is the wild nature of Iceland and I'm actively working for its conservation. During the last 10 years, I’ve been involved in scientific studies conducted by the Nature Institute of Iceland, and have widely documented the life of Arctic species like the Arctic fox (Vulpes lagopus) and the Puffin (Fratercula arctica).

May my art give back to nature, and especially to the vulnerable species of the Arctic regions.
