Princess Xineth Vay-Sha-Ron is a distant cousin to the Empress. At one point, some thought she might leverage her bloodline for a place of power within the Empire. Though the title of Empress might lay beyond her reach, there was no shortage of lower positions from which she could build out her power base.

But Xineth didn't want any of that. Xineth wanted to fight. It was that bloodlust that brought her to the asteroid belt just beyond Kintar Prime. The Empire had long since given up attempting to eradicate the region of the pirate scourge that ravaged the shipping lanes. When Xineth learned of this, she is reported to have said, "If the Empress will not rule here, I will rule in her stead."

The pirate presence has not yet been irradicated, though reports of attacks have dropped sharply within the past two cycles. Some merchants tell tales of strange ships lurking within the belt marked with the crest of Vay-Sha-Ron that watch their passage through the dangerous territory.
