After his '13 Most Wanted Men' piece was censored in the 1964 World’s Fair NY, Warhol took to "nature" as his inspiration for his next printed series. Thus, came about the well known Flowers series. Flipping through 'Modern Photography' magazine of 1964, he stumbled upon Patricia Caulfield’s photograph of Hibiscus blossoms. This image was used to reproduce his silkscreens - a copy of a copy, of a copy approx. 300 times. In 1966, Caulfield sued Warhol for unauthorised usage of her photo, and was awarded $6,000 in damages.
Part of Imagine series, with the purpose of creating a silhouette ledger of masterpieces on the domain of the Blockchain. IMGIN CONTEMPART takes conceptual art and continues the dialogue through the artists practices, transitioning between the metaverse, imaginary existence and the tangible artworks imbedded in our culture.
