024.Usui Third Bridge/Gunma

Built in 1892, the Usui Third Bridge served as a railroad bridge over the Usui Pass between Yokogawa in Gunma and Karuizawa in Nagano until 1963, when it was abandoned. This beautiful brick arch bridge is a fusion of art and technology, and is one of the largest brick bridges in Japan, with a height of 31 meters from the river bottom. This majestic four-span arch bridge is commonly known as the "Megane Bridge. Five bridges remain, from the second bridge to the sixth bridge, all of which are made of bricks, and they were designated as National Important Cultural Properties in 1993.

024番　碓氷第三橋梁/群馬県

1892年に建設された碓氷第三橋梁 は、廃線になる1963年まで群馬の横川と長野の軽井沢を結ぶ碓氷峠を通る鉄道橋としての役割を果たしていました。芸術と技術が融合した美しいレンガのアーチ橋で川底からの高さが31mあり、日本最大級のレンガ造りの橋です。この4連の雄大なアーチ橋は通称「めがね橋」として親しまれています。 橋梁は第2橋梁から第6橋梁までの5基が残っており、そのすべてがレンガ造りで、1993年には国重要文化財に指定されています。
