Recently I learned of Trypophobia, which is an aversion to the sight of irregular patterns or clusters of small holes or bumps. This is not a phobia I suffer from. Growing up in the countryside my brother and I saw many Bee & Wasp nests. I was always fascinated by the intricate craftsmanship and beautiful patterns as well as the mystery of what goes on inside them.

Amongst the many crises besetting our lives and ecosystem today, the staggering loss of pollinator species in particular Honey Bees is also of major concern. This VR art piece speaks of mass extinction and in sculpting the Dead Queen/s with almost mammalian bone structure I’m drawing a connection to the potential doom of our own species if we allow these creatures and others like them to simply die out.
