Church’s Current Status: Abandoned

There is just something about these blues that make this abandoned state hospital "for the insane" a little extra lonely, and a little extra desolate. Or perhaps it's just the stark contrast to its now lively grounds outside. Since the buildings have been included on the National Register of Historic Places, the grounds have been converted into a bustling park, full of joggers, cyclists and dog walkers. This made the hospital somewhat challenging to explore, but none-the-less, we made our way through its buildings. And just like the dichotomy of dark, empty hallway and bright, bustling park, we were faced with the polarity of beautifully grand architectural detail and the unspeakable abuses of its past.
