After the main red carpet photos were taken of the cast and crew of Cosmopolis, the team posed on the steps of the Palais des Festivals for one final group shot. I was lucky enough to shoot this from the top of the Palais steps, where cameras are not usually allowed. I was yelled at by French police when I walked onto the carpet holding my camera, but they eventually let me keep working. This perspective was dizzying in the best way.
2012 Cannes Film Festival – For the first time in the festival’s history, a father and son, my father and brother, had films in competition the same year. The New York Times hired me to shoot a daily diary of the goings on at the festival between the two films, and I was given unprecedented access to places photographers aren’t usually allowed to go.
Un Certain Regard means "a certain glance" and is a section of the festival for films with unusual, non-traditional stories.
