Arrowheads are available in a variety of types, suiting the use that will be made of the arrow, whether sport, hunting or military. Near the end posterior of the arrow, stabilizing surfaces are placed that constitute the arrow empennage to aid in stabilizing the flight path. Usually three in number, the feathers are arranged around the stem forming an angle of 120 degrees to each other. In modern arrows, the feathers are manufactured in plastic and affixed with special glue. Artisans who make arrows are known as "Arrowers".
