Sierra SpaceX: Flower Power

The Sierra SpaceX series represents a collection of three exclusive 1/1 photography pieces from an unforgettable evening in the Eastern Sierra Mountains observing an amazing SpaceX Falcon9 rocket launch from Vandenberg Space Force Base.

Flower Power is the first piece in this collection and provides the perfect man vs. nature harmonic juxtaposition with a brilliant display of colorful fall aspens in the foreground and the rocket plume lighting up the night sky in the shape of a flower. The trail rising up from behind the snow capped mountains almost takes on the form of a broken stem. As a landscape photographer, a successful shot revolves around being in the right place at the right time hoping for the perfect conditions to unfold. This piece evokes that perfect moment and solidifies my experience from this night into a photographic memory.
