In honor of the coming 50th Anniversary of the publication of his seminal paper “Famine, Affluence and Morality,” Peter Singer is offering four items for auction – the first being a 30-minute Zoom conversation with Singer along with an NFT of the paper, in which Singer compared our current response to extreme poverty with a stranger walking past a child drowning in a shallow pond. The other three items are 15-minute Zoom chats with the philosopher paired with an NFT of a signed portrait photo. The week-long auction kicks off later today on Ethereum OpenSea with proceeds going to the non-profit The Life You Save, an organization that Singer co-founded based on his 2009 book of the same name. The organization presents information and promotes actions around the argument that those those who are middle-class or above in affluent countries should support organizations with proven effectiveness in helping people in extreme poverty. Proceeds go to : The Life You Can Save.
