Whilst some things can be predicted and certain laws govern our universe and our behaviour, there are so many variables to everything that it’s impossible to be truly certain of one’s direction in life.
In my own, there’s been a lot of conscious focus, toil and graft, yet with hindsight, the catalyst for many things in my life has been the result of a tiny unplanned single variable that set off a chain of events — that unexpected yet serendipitous occurrence which gave birth to an entirely different set of outcomes than originally planned.
I’m do not mean ‘luck’, for a lot of hard work must occur with anything before or after the fact, but those solitary variables that see us meet that person, make that discovery, fall into that job that spawns a career, or that interest which you end up having a lifelong relationship with.
In ‘Variables’, I sought to convey this incomprehensibly complex yet beautiful chaotic swirl of variables, these invisible waves we all encounter. It's also inspired by three separate paintings.
