「本当にいいものはとても少ない」部長は、ずいぶんと昔に読んだ村上春樹の小説に登場する主人公「僕」のことを思い出していました。「音楽も映画も本も、いいと感じるものがめっきりと減ってしまった。若い頃はそうではなかったのに」と、遠くを眺めるように語った「僕」の言葉を頭に巡らせながら、とあるデザインに目を落としています。

「#NOAG」と書かれた、そのデザインの持つカラフルで不規則な魅力が、部長の感性を揺さぶっていました。白と黒しかない二値で語られる世の中に、突如として現れた二値ではない選択肢のように思えたのです。

エントロピーが増大する自然摂理に反して、人はどうして年齢とともに安定・安住を手に入れたがるのだろう。そう考えた時、部長の心の中には、変化と不安定を許容するスペースが出来ていました。

心の中のに、なんでも自由に入れることができる「隙間」を手に入れた部長は、「この世界には、いいものが溢れている」世の中のクリエイターが作り出す作品のどれもが、素晴らしく、輝いて見えるのでした。
