The Clan of the Caverns find themselves in strange times. For centuries, they have followed strictly in the ways of the Satyr, with an emphasis on harmony and symbiosis, more so than transmutative alchemy. Nevertheless, their alchemical powers have stayed strong, and their expert swordsmanship is legendary. With the rise of Vega as their Prime, a distinct shift has occurred, switching the clan's focus back toward the old alchemy, along with a diminished emphasis on symbiosis and the ways of the Satyr. Daltaneous, one of the most formidable Caverns alchemists, and possibly the best swordsman in all the realm, has quickly found himself at odds with his clan's new leader. In stark opposition to Vega's wishes, he has recently forged a blade of great power - one that specifically honors the traditions of the Satyr and pays homage to the tenets of symbiosis. To add insult to injury, he dubbed the great Baelzurn Blade "Truthweaver." But Daltaneous did not forge the blade merely as a statement of his values for Clan Caverns. He had a deeper initiative. As a young alchemist, barley in his teen years, Daltaneous had a dream that one day monsters would re-emerge in the expanses. In his dream, he was called upon by the Satyr himself to forge a blade that could defend the realm against these new monsters. In the dream, he also struck down a Riftwalker in the shadows of the caverns at night with the very blade the Satyr had commissioned him to craft. He slew the Riftwalker only moments before it could unleash the most dreadful monster of all; the Dire Windigo - the same beast that slew the Satyr of antiquity. This dream had stayed fresh in the mind of Daltaneous for many years. Recently, when word spread that Morlock of Grendelvale had foreseen the rise of new monsters in the land, Daltaneous set aside the very best metals he could find in preparation of creating his dream blade, and fulfilling his commission from the Satyr. Finally, when Vega desecrated the Hall of the Satyr, and the Basilisk was seen in the sky above Fael, Daltaneous could wait no longer. He forged Truthweaver in the deepest of caverns, where the red stones glow, at precisely 11pm, the hour of the Satyr. He now carries it with him every waking moment, searching for Riftwalkers -and expecting monsters.
