Sharon Tate (1943– 1969) was a stunningly beautiful model and actress who was touted to be huge Hollywood star until her untimely demise, cutting her career short. This piece is based on publicity photos taken for the film ‘Valley of the Dolls’ (1967) hence the pills, referred to in slang as dolls. The plot was closely based on Jacqueline Susann's novel of the same name, the main plot theme being barbiturate addiction in the entertainment industry. Although possibly best remembered for her role as Jennifer North in ‘Dolls’, Unfortunately in retrospect she is more notorious for her horrific assassination by the Manson Family cult in 1969. Again an ongoing theme of my work it references psychedelia, drugs, psychology and tragedy.
