Infinite Minds Collection, by Iluvatar

Galileo di Vincenzo Bonaiuti de' Galilei, born in 1564, was an Italian astronomer, physicist and engineer, sometimes described as a polymath, from Pisa. Galileo has been called the "father of observational astronomy", the "father of modern physics", the "father of the scientific method", and the "father of modern science".

Galileo studied speed and velocity, gravity and free fall, the principle of relativity, inertia, projectile motion and also worked in applied science and technology, describing the properties of pendulums and "hydrostatic balances".

He invented the thermoscope and various military compasses, and used the telescope for scientific observations of celestial objects. Among the best discoveries:

  1. THE FATHER OF OBSERVATIONAL ASTRONOMY
  2. THE FATHER OF MODERN SCIENCE
  3. PROVED THE HELIOCENTRIC MODEL THROUGH HIS DISCOVERY OF THE PHASES OF VENUS
  4. DISCOVERED THE FOUR LARGEST MOONS OF JUPITER
  5. STATED THE BASIC PRINCIPLE OF RELATIVITY
  6. DISCOVERED THAT PENDULUMS WERE ISOCHRONOUS
  7. FORERUNNER TO THE MODERN THERMOMETER
  8. IMPROVED MILITARY COMPASS
  9. HYDROSTATIC BALANCE

Galileo's championing of Copernican heliocentrism (Earth rotating daily and revolving around the sun) was met with opposition from within the Catholic Church and from some astronomers. The matter was investigated by the Roman Inquisition in 1615, which concluded that heliocentrism was foolish, absurd, and heretical since it contradicted Holy Scripture. He was tried by the Inquisition, found "vehemently suspect of heresy", and forced to recant. He spent the rest of his life under house arrest.

Others About Socrates:

"Socrates pointed out that human choice was motivated by the desire for happiness. Ultimate wisdom comes from knowing oneself. The more a person knows, the greater his or her ability to reason and make choices that will bring true happiness."

Brilliant Quotes:

"Eppur si muove."

"The Milky Way is nothing else but a mass of innumerable stars planted together in clusters."

Millennia have passed since the dawn of the human civilisation with billions of soul passing through time in this beautiful corner of the Universe and yet, there is a few of them whose memory, accomplishments and contribution to humanity's evolution cannot be unseen.

There are certain moments in the history where the road followed the right path because of these brilliant minds and this Collection is here to honour Them.

Why only 88 you ask? Because what is better than one ∞ ? Two Infinities. And to realise it's all about perspective, try seeing the infinities from a 90 degree angle's perspective. So, if you haven't paid attention tho these Absolutely Brilliant People before, maybe now is the time.
