BURN, BABY, BURN

I care about the earth and our future on this planet but I think it’s too much to hold cryptoart, let alone crypto, with responsibility for our demise.

Crypto is a niche, cryptoart is a niche of a niche. Look to other industry first perhaps?

“The earth is our Mother yet we continue to fuck her” Andre3000 (I believe).

We, individuals, corporations, States, like profit and convenience too much to care for the planets future. Some even say it’s too late.

“Burn, baby, burn” refers to Enron traders celebrating a deregulated energy market, market manipulation and fires that shut down a transmission line into California. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/enron-traders-caught-on-tape/

This piece was inspired by Memo Akten’s Medium articles:

The Unreasonable Ecological Cost of #CryptoArt (Part 1). https://memoakten.medium.com/the-unreasonable-ecological-cost-of-cryptoart-2221d3eb2053

The Unreasonable Ecological Cost of #CryptoArt (Part 2) https://memoakten.medium.com/analytics-the-unreasonable-ecological-cost-of-cryptoart-72f9066b90d

http://cryptoart.wtf is said to check the kWh and kgCO2 of an NFT and its transactions.

@Jay_Delay comments are worth reading on this issue including “Our whole planet is literally covered in trash! I think #trashart may be our only hope.”

And this thread including: “The consumption of physical materials has raped the earth in the name of consumerismI [sic]” https://twitter.com/Jay_Delay/status/1352444360122576896

Jay Delay has used his art to further comment on our obsession to consume.

@WizardX asks: “How come energy cost concerns are focused on the most RECENT tech? Why not complain about refrigerators and how you could certainly live off of canned food, fruits, nuts etc. Why people be working so far from their house? Get a job you can run to....why you on this internet? #NFT” https://twitter.com/WizardX_0x/status/1352472830676529152
