The Flora Collection depicts hand drawn and painted tropical flowers and plants and are digital expressions of Renata Fernandez analog works. The originals are based on social media screen shots and her personal photo archive. Working on the principle of appropriation of someone else’s view of the world through a telephone camera and their sharing of this vision, Renata proceeds to make these images her own. Some include the popular names of flowers in Spanish, as Renata, tries also to hang on her own linguistic memories (many screen shots are from her acquaintances still in her natal country, Venezuela). Ink, oils and acrylic on wood and paper had been used for the analog works, while their digital version had been achieved with After Effects.
