The NFT Creature Collection is digitally derived from a collection of 500 handmade girls in New Zealand.

"I have always been interested in taking fragments of the past and integrating them into the present.

These girls have attitude and personality. The creative skills of my Mother and Grandmother are incorporated showing knitting, crochet, sewing and some contemporary slashing and burning techniques. Some edges are left raw showing the connecting threads that make up the inner fibre, their inner sleeves.

When pioneering women came to New Zealand they had nothing. To make do they became very resourceful.

By combining contradictory elements that are both manufactured and crafted, old and new and are recognisable to both men and women, my work gives an insights into our collective past and memories. It is through these memories that we are all interconnected. A shared history connecting generations.
