The Girls and their Machines

This collection - The Girls and their Machines - encapsulates the beauty of a world where women, particularly black, are pictured far beyond their endurance threshold or the extent of their submissiveness - but one where bursting through the city winds atop sophisticated vehicles, celebrating themselves whilst improving their quality of life is the norm.

This series specifically conveys self-care, happiness, success, contentment, in relation to how more women are now being intentional about enjoying themselves and how it transforms the black community at large, as the “strong black woman” narrative is tired and quite frankly, dangerous. The subjects in my work thus far, have been women of African descent and this is where my life as a black woman corresponds with my work as an artist.

All pieces in this collection are original oil paintings.
