Photographing in Antarctica and South Georgia was something I had planned for months before heading down, and yet I felt unprepared for it when I was there.
It was very different than shooting in a studio. Everything from constantly changing camera settings, to working with moving subjects who would't listen, to cold rain, too harsh sunlight, and windy conditions made for a challenging time. These sorts of fast pace and harsh environments are my favorite to photograph in.
Although I took thousands of shots, these two photos are the images I am most proud of. The Macaroni penguin was taken from a moving zodiac on one of my first days around South Georgia Island. The Gentoo penguins holding hands is a shot from one of my last days in Antarctica.
The first collectors of these images receives one metal or glass print. When both pieces sell, a donation of $5,000 will be made to the South Georgia Heritage Fund to protect the sub Antarctic island ecosystems.
