Lundi, the Atlantic puffin

Lundi is the Icelandic name of the Atlantic puffin, a medium size Alcidae (seabird) that can be found in circumpolar areas of the North Atlantic, from Canada to Norway. Puffins have an remarkable average lifespan of 25 years -for a bird the size of a pigeon- and lay only one egg per year. They are faithful to the same partner and always come back to nest in the same place every year. Sixty percent of the world’s population is nesting in Iceland, or around 3 millions couples. However, these numbers are quickly declining, mainly because of global warming and intensive fishing around the coasts that forces the fish to move North and the birds to cover bigger distances between their burrows and their fishing grounds, compromising the chances of a successful reproduction.

My Opensea collection features ten 1/1 NFTs of my most arty puffins pictures, gathered over the North of Iceland within the last ten years. See pictures descriptions for more info about extras and Giving back actions.
