Stefan Mildenberger started the ongoing collage series JALOUSIE in 2010 during his studies at the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg/Germany. By now it contains more than 130 collage combinations. This series is made of various celebrity-photographs, acquired by time-consuming internet research. One female and one male connoted figure in matching poses, coming from pop, art, politics, porn, sport or church and with a similar historical and social background, are selected and placed in strips above one another. The fusion of the feminine and the masculine character into a hybrid is visually fascinating, all the more so as the minor distinctions of the tightly layered sliced images further captivate the eye.
