As a community or ordinary citizen, we have so many collective memories that we all share together as a result of varies multi-faceted historical and socio-political incidents in the past several decades. They all affect us directly or indirectly.
The idea of this art works comes from the article of the Berlin Conference led to the partition and exploitation of Africa, the Battle of Adwa inspired African independence movements and instilled a sense of pride and self-confidence in African people. The two major phenomena that happened in the two continents shaped history and the political arena. 
Collective memory can play an important role in shaping the identity of a society or group, and can be a powerful tool for building social cohesion and fostering a sense of belonging. 
I use old cup, seals, map and photo of berlin conference juxtaposition in conceptual collage, by deliberately utilizing the core tenants of Contemporary creative strategy to recall the memory.
