Antarctica - The Iceberg Series

As a landscape photographer, I am drawn to landscapes that transform, change, or even disappear altogether. - Each image of this collection stands for a brief moment in the lifespan of an iceberg that has most likely disappeared completely by now, captured only by the camera. This is a very special motivation for me, and I almost feel a kind of urge to document these fleeting moments in time. With the black and white processing, I tried to highlight the varied and complex texture of the ice while creating a timeless and classic look reminiscent of the old days of great explorers.

In their textures and shapes, icebergs reveal the myriads of twists and turns of their often months-long journey. From smooth and polished to angular and rough, there are almost infinite variations.

All photos were taken during a sailing voyage with the Bark Europa in December 2019 & January 2020 around the Antarctic Peninsula.
